Mission

“To encourage a democratic basis for the interaction between religion and state, by promoting an understanding of the role of democracy, human rights and freedom of conscience in creating sustainable societies"

Art of Governance (AOG) Program

A key program of PIFRAS focuses on support for strengthening democratic institutions in emerging democracies. Through this program, potential political leaders from these countries that are moving from a troubled political past to a pluralist representative form of government, are provided an exposure to democratic systems, process and institutions in the US through a mixture of class room instructions, internships and field visits. In many developing democracies of the world religion plays an important role in determining how politics and society should be organized in the contemporary world. In its programs PIFRAS studies these interactions between religion and state and in particular the impacts that religious faith has on governance.

Seminars and Conferences

PIFRAS organizes seminars, conferences, consultations, legislative and press briefings in the US and in countries of interest, at the national and regional levels, on subjects related to religious conflicts, human rights and democratic aspirations of minority groups.
