THE FORUM ON IRAQ is a consortium of policy groups, NGOs, businesses and Iraqi ethnic/religious organizations based both in US and Iraq, with programs or activities in Iraq currently or in the development stage.

THE FORUM was established with the goal of providing policy makers with practical insight and solutions to the problems in Iraq based on on-the-ground experience and knowledge. Members of US Congress who are active in Iraq policy would become the members of THE FORUM ON IRAQ.

  1. THE FORUM ON IRAQ addresses policies to support the creation of a pluralist secular representative form of government.
  2. It anticipates creating dialogue and building bridges of understanding between major ethnic/religious communities in Iraq.
  3. The FORUM will seek opportunities to advise members of US Congress and the Administration on the implementation of appropriate and timely policies.

Due to the operational nature of its members, The FORUM will have the advantage of regular visits to Iraq.

Plans are already in development to hold conferences in Iraq and in the US to discuss a broad range of issues including religion, business and their role in rebuilding Iraq.

The FORUM will make available its members from various backgrounds for Congressional hearings on Iraq. Finally, The FORUM on IRAQ will function as a network of professionals, businessmen and ethnic /religious leaders, to coordinate and cooperate in helping Iraq rejoin the family of nations.
The FORUM is open for other interested groups to join.

Founding Members of the FORUM ON IRAQ:

Explaining why the Forum on Iraq was formed, the President of WCRP Dr. William Vendley said,“Religious leaders are irreplaceable actors in the collaboration between inter-governmental bodies, the Iraqi Governing Council and NGOs in support of Iraqi self-determination.”

John Prabhudoss, the Executive Director of PIFRAS, which is actively engaged in providing exposure training to those who would be running for public offices in the near future in Iraq said, “Iraq is in a most critical juncture in its history. Iraqis must decide what kind of country they want for themselves. Though religion is important in their private and public life they need to realize that its time for them to give opportunities for the progressive leaders to join the family of nations”.

Joseph Kassab, of the Chaldean National Congress, an Iraqi Chaldean American from Michigan said, “For the past four decades democracy in Iraq has not been in existence. For us to foster a democracy in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious communities of Iraq is like handing over a banana to a toddler who would have to be first taught how to peel it before eating.”
