BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. K.P. Singh was born as Dalit in India. After completing his education through premier institutions like Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh, he completed his doctoral degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in Civilizations and Cultures of South Asia along with Sociology.

Dr. Singh has been very instrumental in highlighting the plights of disadvantaged people like Dalits in India through radio broadcasts on stations such as National Public Radio (NPR) and different national newspapers. Besides organizing many panels, conferences and meetings on South Asia in general, and on Dalits in particular, Dr. Singh has maintained his distinguished academic career. Currently, Dr. Singh is a faculty member at the University of Washington in Seattle where he teaches courses in Dalit Studies, Race-Caste and Ethnicity, South Asian Diaspora, Modern Indian Social Thoughts along with Indian Languages and Literatures.
